Shaving Cream Letters

Shaving Cream Letters
Target Age:
Early Three-Year Old
Materials You Will Need:
shaving cream, tray or table top, sponge and towel for clean-up
What To Do:

Spread a small amount of shaving cream on your tray or directly on a table top. Using one or two fingers, write the first letter of your child's name in the shaving cream and say the sound as you do so. 'Erase' the letter and repeat the activity several times. Encourage your child to write the letter, or hold your child's fingers as you write together to develop muscle memory for this task. If this is your child's first experience with shaving cream, allow time to explore before attempting to introduce the handwriting exercise.

Variations:

Do the same activity with finger paint.Try this in the bathtub, using the bathroom wall. This is a wonderful activity to try on the sand at the beach if you have the opportunity.
