Calendar Creations

Calendar Creations
Target Age:
Late Four-Year Old
Materials You Will Need:
calendar, markers, paper (drawn with a grid of 35 squares)
What To Do:

Enjoy creating a calendar with your child for this coming month. Start with a piece of paper drawn with a grid of 35 squares. Show your child what your month's calendar looks like, then show your child which day to start writing dates on his/her calendar. (If the month starts on a Tuesday, make sure your child writes the number 1 on this day.) Make sure your child knows how many days are in this month and writes the numbers in the corresponding grids. If your child isn't ready to write all the numbers, have your child trace the numbers that you've written. Invite your child to decorate special days for this month and copy the name of the month at the top. The calendar will have much more meaning if your child creates it!

Variations:

Make monthly calendars for the rest of the year.
