Vowel Sorting

Target Age:
Late Four-Year Old
What To Do:
While driving, invite your child to play a vowel sorting game. Choose a short or long vowel sound and introduce the sound to your child. See how many words your child can think of that contain that sound. If you choose a short 'o' sound, you and your child could come up with "hot, Tom, log, clock, mop, and October". Your child may find it difficult to hear the middle sounds of words, so this game is good practice for vowel discrimination.
