Hide the Sound

Target Age:
Late Infant
Materials You Will Need:
bells, rattles, shakers, blanket
What To Do:
Children's sense of hearing helps them differentiate sounds. This is an important pre-reading skill for your child. For this activity, you will need: two bells, two rattles, and two shakers. Put one of each in front of you. Put one of each under a blanket or in a bag. Sit across from your child. Reach under the blanket and ring the bell. Ask your child to find the object that made the noise. Your child may try to reach under the blanket. If your child does this, shake each object in front of your child and try it again.

"This worked. I really didn't think she would get the concept but she did on the first try. Something new to do."
